DChE appoints new department chair
Dr. Joey D. Ocon is the new chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering in U.P. Diliman. He was nominated by DChE faculty and REPS based on his professional, academic, and moral excellence. He is then appointed by Chancellor Michael L. Tan after consultation with Dean Rizalinda L. de Leon. His term effectively started on September 1 and will last for three years.
“With the support from the department faculty and REPS, I aim to continue the current efforts of the department to become the Institute of Chemical Engineering through proactive faculty development, infrastructure upgrades, enhanced R&D outputs, revitalized academic programs, regular quality assessment, and reinforced industry and alumni relations,” said Dr. Ocon in his nomination acceptance.
Together with Dr. Ocon, Julie Anne D. del Rosario, new Ph.D. graduate from LEE and returning member of DChE, will also serve as assistant chair during the same term.
