Harold Panganoron Publishes Catalysts Paper on Novel and Low-Cost Biomass Derived Carbon Support for α-MnO2 ORR electrocatalysts
Mr. Harold Panganoron’s work on biomass derived α-MnO 2 electrocatalyst support was published in the Catalysts (IF = 3.444) journal on February 3, 2020 entitled “Hydrothermally Carbonized Waste Biomass as Electrocatalyst Support for α-MnO 2 in Oxygen Reduction Reaction.” The paper was co-authored by Mr. Jethro Daniel Pascasio, Mr. Eugene Esparcia Jr., Prof. Julie Anne del Rosario, PhD, and Prof. Joey Ocon, PhD. The paper showed a novel and low-cost method of deriving α-MnO 2 from biomass that enhances its electrocatalytic activity towards oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The work was funded under the University of the Philippines Emerging Interdisciplinary Research Program through the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (UP EIDR C08-003) [ lee-upd.com/gazette/news/lee-receives-eidr-grant ]. Mr. Panganoron is also a recipient of the Department of Science and Technology-Engineering Research and Development for Technology (DOST-ERDT) graduate scholarship.
