LEE at TEEL 2023

Researchers of the Laboratory of Electrochemical Engineering (LEE) graced the invitation of the Thermal and Electrochemical Energy Laboratory (TEEL) to visit the TEEL at the School of Engineering, University of California, Merced, USA last January 20 – 30, 2023. The LEE Team, composed of Laboratory Head, Prof. Joey D. Ocon, and LEE Post Docs, Dr. DJ Donn Matienzo and Dr. Lawrence Limjuco, met the team of Prof. Po-Ya Abel Chuang to discuss the ongoing collaboration of the LEE and TEEL in Project CIPHER: Clean and Vertically-Integrated Pure/Applied Hydrogen Energy Research for Next Generation Power Systems. Specifically, the objectives of the meeting are to discuss the ongoing R&D activities of the CIPHER Project, training of UP researchers on fuel cell station operation and testing, a joint hybrid workshop between UC Merced and UP Diliman, and preparation of joint research publications of the project.

TEEL is currently focused on developing hydrogen-based energy solutions, which can deliver energy on demand for different applications, from agriculture to information and communication technologies, to transportation. This work is expected to improve the viability and effectiveness of hydrogen fuel cells for energy, which presents an exciting research opportunity for Project CIPHER in the coming years.
Project CIPHER is funded by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education – Philippine California Advanced Research Institutes (CHED-PCARI) under the Cycle 6 grants (IIID 2018-008).
